How to Sort Your Inventory with the Inventory Management Mod
Sorting Your Player Inventory
The core feature of the mod is one-click sorting. Open your inventory screen and look for the sort button added by the mod, typically placed near the edge of the inventory GUI. Clicking it rearranges the items in your main inventory slots into alphabetical order.
Importantly, the hotbar is excluded from sorting. This is intentional — it preserves whatever quick-access items you have placed there, so your sword, pickaxe, food, and torches stay exactly where you put them. Only the storage rows above the hotbar get rearranged.
Sorting Storage Containers
The sort button also works inside chests, barrels, and other storage GUIs. Open the container and click the sort button to arrange its contents alphabetically. This is useful after a mining trip when a chest has become a jumble of ores, cobblestone, and random drops.
A few practical notes:
- Sorting is alphabetical, not by item type or stack size, so "Apple" comes before "Arrow" and "Iron Ingot" before "Iron Sword."
- If you rely on muscle memory for a specific chest layout, sorting will disrupt it — consider keeping one unsorted "working" chest.
- Sort before you start crafting from a chest so you can find ingredients faster.
If the button does not appear, check that the mod is loaded and that no other inventory mod is conflicting with the GUI.
