How to Craft Dark Metal Simply Swords Weapons

Getting Dark Metal

Dark Metal comes from the Born In Chaos mod. You need to obtain Dark Metal ingots (or the appropriate crafting material) before you can make any of the Integrated Simply Swords variants. Check the Born In Chaos recipes for how to smelt or craft the base metal — typically it involves smelting dark metal ore or combining drops from Born In Chaos mobs.

Crafting the Weapons

Once you have Dark Metal ingots, open a crafting table and arrange them using the standard Simply Swords weapon patterns. Simply Swords uses distinct grid layouts for each weapon type:

  • Longsword, Katana, Cutlass, Rapier, Sai — sword-style patterns using ingots and a stick/handle.
  • Claymore, Greataxe, Greathammer, Halberd, Glaive, Scythe, Spear — larger patterns that consume more ingots.
  • Chakram, Twinblade, Warglaive — unique layouts specific to those weapon types.

If a recipe does not appear, confirm you have the correct Simply Swords and Born In Chaos versions loaded together. The Integrated Simply Swords addon registers these variants automatically once both parent mods are present.

Tips

Craft the cheapest variant first (a Longsword or Rapier) to test that the integration is working before committing a large stack of Dark Metal to a Greathammer. Dark Metal weapons typically inherit the material's tier and any special traits Born In Chaos assigns to it.
