Integrated Simply Swords FAQ
20 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does Integrated Simply Swords actually add?
It adds Simply Swords weapon types (claymores, cutlasses, glaives, greataxes, greathammers, halberds, katanas, longswords, rapiers, sais, scythes, spears, twinblades, warglaives, chakrams) made from materials added by other mods, currently Born In Chaos dark metal, Caverns And Chasms necromium, and Ice and Fire dragonbone fire. Each material gets the full weapon-type lineup, so you pick the metal first and the weapon shape second.
How do I get started with this mod?
You need the source material mods installed and their material obtained first, since every weapon here is gated behind the base mod's own progression. Get dark metal from Born In Chaos, necromium from Caverns And Chasms, or dragonbone fire from Ice and Fire, then craft the weapon type you want using that material's ingots or equivalent.
Do I need Simply Swords itself installed for this to work?
Yes. Integrated Simply Swords is an integration add-on, so Simply Swords provides the weapon types, models, and attack behaviors, while Born In Chaos, Caverns And Chasms, and Ice and Fire provide the materials. Missing any of those dependencies means the corresponding weapons won't exist or won't craft.
Which weapon type should I craft first?
Start with a longsword or katana if you want a general-purpose main hand, since they're forgiving in normal combat. Pick a greataxe, greathammer, or scythe only if you're comfortable with slower, heavier swings, and grab a rapier or sai if you fight a lot of armored or fast enemies.
Why can't I craft a dark metal weapon even though I have dark metal?
Most likely you're missing Simply Swords, or you're using a material form the recipe doesn't accept (for example nuggets or blocks instead of ingots). Check the recipe in JEI/REI for the exact ingredient and make sure the weapon type you want is actually part of the dark metal set.
Are these weapons just reskins of the base Simply Swords weapons?
They use the same weapon-type behaviors and movesets as their Simply Swords counterparts, but the stats come from the source material, so a necromium greataxe and a dark metal greataxe will not perform identically. Treat the material as the stat source and the weapon type as the playstyle.
How do I repair these weapons?
Repair them the same way you'd repair the base material's gear, typically with the source material in an anvil, and check JEI for the exact repair item since it varies by material. If anvil repair isn't accepted, use the material in a crafting-grid repair or apply Mending instead.
What's the best way to enchant these weapons?
Match enchants to the weapon type rather than the material: Sharpness and Sweeping Edge on wide-swing weapons, Smite or Bane of Arthropods for specific farms, and Fire Aspect or Knockback for crowd control. Mending plus Unbreaking is almost always worth it because these weapons are expensive to replace.
Will this mod cause lag or performance problems?
The mod itself is mostly items and recipes, so it shouldn't be a major performance cost on its own. Any lag you see is more likely coming from the source mods (Born In Chaos mobs, Ice and Fire dragons, Caverns And Chasms worldgen) or from having many mods loaded together.
Is it compatible with other weapon or combat mods?
It's designed to sit on top of Simply Swords and the three source mods, so it plays best when those are present and up to date together. Other combat or weapon mods usually coexist fine, but if another mod overrides the same weapon types or materials you may see recipe or stat conflicts.
