Insanes Survival Overhaul FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I manage tiredness and when should I sleep?
Tiredness builds up as you perform activities like mining, fighting, and sprinting. You'll see your tiredness meter increase, and sleeping in a bed is the only way to reset it fully. If you let tiredness get too high, you'll suffer penalties to your combat effectiveness and mining speed.
Can I use pickaxes and axes as weapons?
Yes, tools deal damage now and have combat stats like attack speed and critical chance. Tools are generally slower but hit harder than swords, so they're viable for combat if you're willing to trade speed for power.
Why is my mining so slow deep underground?
The mod slows down mining at deeper depths to make resource gathering more challenging. This is intentional and encourages you to manage your time and tiredness carefully when mining in the deep caves.
How does the new hunger system work?
Food stacks are smaller, so you can't carry as many food items at once. You'll need to manage your inventory more carefully and plan food supplies for longer expeditions.
What happens when I die?
A gravestone appears at your death location containing all your items, and you'll see a timer on the death screen. You have time to return to the grave and recover your items before they despawn.
Is bonemeal still useful for farming?
Bonemeal is much less powerful now and won't instantly grow crops like it used to. You'll need to rely more on natural growth or other methods to establish farms, making early-game agriculture slower.
How do enchantments work differently?
The enchanting system has been reworked, and you'll see new enchantments like Critical I available on tools. Check the enchanting table to see what new options are available for your gear.
Do Beacons and Conduits work better now?
Yes, both Beacons and Conduits have improved effects that make them more worthwhile to build. They provide stronger or more useful buffs than vanilla Minecraft.
How do explosions work in this mod?
Explosions have been adjusted and behave differently than vanilla Minecraft. Test them in a safe area to understand the new mechanics before relying on them for mining or combat.
Do animals drop more or fewer resources?
Animals have been rebalanced to make them a more fair resource compared to other survival methods. You'll need to hunt more strategically rather than relying on animal farms as your primary food source.
