How to Use Infinite Trading to Get Enchanted Books and Gear

Find a Librarian or Armorer

Librarians offer enchanted books in exchange for emeralds and a book, and armorers, weaponsmiths, and toolsmiths offer enchanted gear. With Infinite Trading, once you find a villager with the enchantment you want, that trade never locks. You can buy the same enchanted book or piece of gear over and over as long as you have the emeralds and any extra ingredients the trade requires.

Stock Up on Emeralds First

Before you start buying, build up a large reserve of emeralds. The easiest way is to set up a villager buy-trade that converts a renewable item into emeralds, as described in the emerald farm guide. Once you have several stacks of emeralds, find the librarian or smith with the enchantment you want and trade repeatedly.

Combine and Apply

Buy multiple copies of the same enchanted book if you want to combine them for higher levels, or buy different books to apply to different pieces of gear. For enchanted gear sold directly by smiths, you can buy several pieces and use them or disenchant them if you have a grindstone. Because the trade stays open, you can also come back later and buy more without re-rolling the villager's offers. This makes it practical to fully enchant a set of armor, tools, and weapons from a single villager.
