Set Up a Pet Home Location and Configure Roaming Boundaries

Establishing a Home Base

Pets in independent mode need a designated home location to roam around. To set this up, tame your pet first, then place it in the area where you want it to settle. The pet will remember this spot as its home base.

Configuring Roaming Distance

Once your pet is set to independent mode (cycle through modes with right-click), it will roam within a configurable radius around its home location. Access your mod configuration file to adjust how far your pet can wander—this prevents them from getting lost or straying too far from your base.

You can modify these settings in the config folder. Look for IndyPets configuration options and adjust the roaming radius value to suit your needs. A smaller radius keeps pets close; a larger one gives them more freedom to explore.

Tips

  • Set the home location in a safe area away from hazards
  • Test the roaming distance by switching to independent mode and observing where your pet travels
  • Adjust the config value if your pet ventures into dangerous terrain or gets stuck
