Cycle Your Pet Between Sitting, Following, and Independent Modes

Understanding the Three Pet Modes

Every tamed pet can exist in one of three states:

  • Sitting: Pet stays in place and won't move
  • Following: Pet trails behind you and responds to your movement
  • Independent: Pet roams freely within a set area around its home location

How to Change Modes

To cycle through these modes, right-click your pet. Each click advances to the next mode in sequence. Keep clicking until your pet enters the mode you want.

Using Shift + Right-Click

For more direct control, hold Shift and right-click your pet to access mode selection. This is especially useful when you have multiple pets and want to set them to different modes quickly.

Works With Modded Creatures

This cycling mechanic isn't limited to vanilla animals—it works with tamed creatures from other mods too. As long as you've tamed them, you can control their behavior using the same right-click system.

Visual Feedback

Watch for status indicators on your pet (like sitting animations or following behavior) to confirm the mode change was successful.
