Control Your Pets on a Server Using Chat Commands
Server-Side Pet Management
The IndyPets Mod works entirely on the server side, meaning vanilla clients can control pets without installing the mod locally. This makes it perfect for multiplayer servers where not everyone wants to add client-side mods.
Essential Chat Commands
Use these commands to manage pet behavior:
/indypets whistle– Rally all nearby pets to follow you/indypets unwhistle– Dismiss pets and send them to independent mode/indypets horn– Configure Goat Horn items as custom whistles
Why Use Commands?
Chat commands are useful when:
- You're on a server and don't have the client mod installed
- You want to control pets from a distance
- You prefer text input over hotkeys
- You're managing pets for other players
Client-Side Enhancements
If you do install the mod client-side, you'll unlock additional features: hotkeys (like the J whistle), sound effects, translated messages, and expanded configuration options. However, the core functionality works without these additions.
