How to Fix Missing or Invisible Textures When Using Sodium

Why This Happens

Sodium replaces Minecraft's rendering engine, but it does not implement the Fabric Rendering API. Mods that register custom block or item models through that API — things like connected textures, custom fluid rendering, or blocks with non-standard geometry — will fail to draw correctly under Sodium alone. Symptoms include blocks appearing as the purple-and-black missing texture, fully invisible blocks that still have collision, or models that render as flat squares.

What to Do

1. Confirm Sodium is actually installed and active. Indium does nothing on its own; it only bridges Sodium and the Fabric Rendering API.

2. Install Indium alongside Sodium. Once both are present, restart the game fully rather than reloading resources.

3. If a specific block is still broken, check whether that block's mod requires the Fabric Rendering API at all. Indium only helps mods that use it. A mod with a broken model for unrelated reasons will stay broken.

4. Test in a fresh world or a flat creative world to rule out chunk-render caching. Walk a few chunks away and back to force a re-mesh.

5. If only some blocks are affected, note which mods they come from and check those mods' own documentation — some require additional libraries.

Indium itself adds no visual features. It exists purely so other mods' rendering code can run under Sodium.
