Indium Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if Indium is even working?
Check your mod list or the logs to confirm Indium loaded alongside Sodium. If a mod that needs the Fabric Rendering API renders correctly instead of crashing or showing missing textures, Indium is doing its job.
Do I need Indium if I only use Sodium and no other mods?
No. Indium only exists to add Fabric Rendering API support that Sodium lacks, so with Sodium alone it provides no benefit and can be left out.
Why are my textures missing or invisible after installing Sodium?
Sodium doesn't support the Fabric Rendering API, so mods relying on it render incorrectly without Indium. Installing Indium restores that support and usually fixes the missing or invisible textures.
Does Indium improve my FPS?
No, Indium itself gives no performance benefit over Sodium alone. Any FPS change comes from the mods using the Fabric Rendering API, which can help or hurt performance on their own.
Will Indium slow down my game?
Indium's own performance impact should be negligible. If you notice slowdowns, they're more likely coming from the rendering-API mods Indium enables rather than Indium itself.
My game crashes with Sodium, Indium, and other mods together — what do I do?
Make sure Indium matches your Sodium version and that all rendering mods are compatible with each other. Remove or update the conflicting mod to isolate which one is causing the crash.
Can I use Indium with OptiFine?
No. Indium is built for Sodium on Fabric, and Sodium and OptiFine are not compatible, so you can't run them together.
Do I need Indium on Fabric or is it for Forge?
Indium is a Fabric mod made to work with Sodium on Fabric. It isn't used on Forge, where Sodium isn't the rendering mod in play.
A mod says it needs the Fabric Rendering API — is Indium what I install?
Yes. Indium provides Fabric Rendering API support for Sodium, so installing it is what lets those mods render properly.
Can I remove Indium if I don't use any rendering mods?
Yes. If no installed mod relies on the Fabric Rendering API, Indium isn't needed and removing it won't change how Sodium behaves.
