Improved Sign Editing Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using the improved sign editing?
Open a sign to edit it as normal. You'll see a toggle button on the editing screen—click it to switch to improved mode. The mod is enabled by default, so improved editing should work immediately.
Can I write long sentences on one sign line without it breaking?
Yes. In improved mode, words automatically shift to the next line if they don't fit on the current line, so you can type naturally without manually adding line breaks or spacing.
What happens if I delete text in the middle of a sign?
The improved mode deletes intelligently across lines, treating your sign text like a document rather than separate lines. Text flows naturally after deletion instead of leaving gaps.
How do I go back to vanilla sign editing?
Click the toggle button on the sign editing screen to switch back to vanilla mode. You can switch between modes as often as you need.
Can I turn off the toggle button?
Yes. Open the mod's config settings and set `showImprovedEditingButton` to false to hide the button. You can still enable or disable improved editing through the `enableImprovedEditing` config option.
Does this mod work with colored signs or special sign types?
The improved editing works with all sign types in Minecraft. Text color and formatting are handled separately and won't be affected by the editing improvements.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
No. This is a client-side quality-of-life mod that only affects the sign editing screen, so it has no impact on server performance or world loading.
Can I use this mod on a multiplayer server?
Yes. Since it's client-side only, you can use it on any server without needing the server to have the mod installed.
What if I want improved editing for some signs but vanilla for others?
Use the toggle button on each sign's editing screen to choose the mode you want. You can switch between improved and vanilla for every sign you edit.
Does the mod change how signs look or save differently?
No. Signs save exactly the same way regardless of which editing mode you used, so improved editing is purely a convenience feature with no impact on the final sign.
