How to Survive a Raid and Earn Hero of the Village

Prepare Before You Enter the Village

Do not walk in with Bad Omen unprepared. Stock up first, because raids spawn multiple waves and the illagers attack from several directions at once.

  • Bring a strong sword or axe, a bow with plenty of arrows, and full armor.
  • Carry blocks to wall off chokepoints and a bucket of water or lava for crowd control.
  • Bring golden apples or healing potions, plus milk if you want to remove Bad Omen and cancel the raid entirely.
  • Build a small fortified spot near the village center where you can retreat between waves.

Fight the Waves Efficiently

Illagers target villagers, not just you, so split your attention. Prioritize evokers (they summon vexes and fangs) and vindicators (heavy melee) before dealing with pillagers and ravagers. Ring the village bell if one is present; it briefly marks nearby raiders with a glow effect so you can track them. Keep villagers inside houses by placing blocks over doors if needed. Clear every wave until the raid bar empties. When the last raider dies, you receive Hero of the Village, which gives large discounts on villager trades. The raid music fades out at that point.
