How to Verify Idle Tweaks Is Actually Working

Confirm the mod is loaded

Before troubleshooting behavior, make sure Idle Tweaks Mod is present in your mod list for the profile you are launching. If it does not appear, the game will behave as vanilla and none of the background limits will apply.

Test each feature

You can check the three behaviors one at a time:

1. FPS cap — enable an FPS display (many mods and vanilla debug screens show framerate). Note your framerate while focused, then alt-tab away and watch the number drop.

2. Render distance — stand somewhere with a long view, tab out, and tab back in. You should see distant terrain reappear as the game restores your normal render distance.

3. Audio mute — play a music disc or stand near a noisy mob, then alt-tab. The sound should cut out and return when you refocus the window.

If something does not trigger

  • Check window focus. The mod reacts to the game window losing focus. Overlays, second monitors, and some window managers can confuse this.
  • Look for conflicting mods. Performance or optimization mods that also manage framerate or render distance can override or fight with Idle Tweaks.
  • Restart the game after changing your mod list, since focus hooks are set up at launch.

Once all three behaviors respond to alt-tabbing, the mod is working as intended and you can leave the game running without worrying about wasted resources.
