Icon Xaero’s Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make Icon Xaero's Resource Pack actually change my map icons?
Enable the pack in Options > Resource Packs and make sure it sits above any other pack that also touches Xaero's map textures. Then open the Xaero's map and press the reload key (or reopen the world) so the new icon atlas is picked up.
Do I need to enable anything in Xaero's Minimap or World Map settings for the icons to show?
No extra toggle is required for the icons themselves, but waypoint and entity icons only appear if the relevant display options are on in the Xaero's map settings. If icons are missing, check that waypoints and entities are set to visible in those menus.
Why do some modded structures still show the default icon instead of a custom one?
The pack only includes icons for mods it was built to support, so unsupported mods fall back to Xaero's default icon. If a supported mod's structure still looks default, the pack may be lower in the resource pack list than another pack overriding the same texture.
Can I use Icon Xaero's Resource Pack together with other resource packs?
Yes, it works alongside most packs since it only replaces Xaero's map icon textures. Just keep it above any pack that also modifies Xaero's files, otherwise the other pack wins and you won't see the custom icons.
Does this pack work on a server, or only in singleplayer?
It's a client-side resource pack, so it works on any server as long as you have Xaero's maps installed. Other players won't see your icons, and the server doesn't need the pack.
Will Icon Xaero's Resource Pack hurt my FPS or performance?
No, it only swaps small icon textures, so the performance impact is negligible compared to the map rendering itself. If you notice lag, it's almost always from Xaero's map settings like entity radar range, not this pack.
My waypoint icons look wrong or blurry after installing the pack — what's going on?
This usually means another resource pack is overriding the same icon textures, or the pack is loaded below it in the list. Move Icon Xaero's Resource Pack to the top of your enabled packs and reload resources.
Do I need to reinstall the pack after updating Xaero's Minimap or World Map?
No, the pack stays enabled and keeps working after map updates in most cases. If icons suddenly revert to default after an update, just reload resource packs or restart the game to refresh the atlas.
How do I tell which icon belongs to which mod or structure?
Hover over the waypoint or look at the map legend in Xaero's settings — the icon shape and color are designed to match the mod it represents. If you're unsure, the pack's icon set is organized by mod, so similar mods get visually distinct symbols.
Can I add my own custom icons to this pack?
Yes, you can edit or add textures inside the pack's Xaero's map icon folder and repackage it as your own resource pack. Just keep the file names matching Xaero's expected icon names so the map picks them up.
