Stopping Modded Crops From Growing With Ice

It Works on Modded Crops Too

The mod hooks into the standard crop growth check, so modded crops that use the normal growth system are frozen the same way vanilla crops are. Place ice directly under the block the modded crop is planted on.

Find the Right Block

Some modded crops grow on special soil, farmland variants, or custom blocks. The ice needs to be under whichever block the crop is actually rooted in. If a modded crop ignores the ice, check whether it grows on a block that the mod does not treat as farmland — those may need a different approach or may not be supported.

Test With One Plant First

If it stays put, you are good to scale up. If it keeps growing, the crop likely uses a custom growth handler that bypasses the normal check.

Bone Meal Still Applies

As with vanilla crops, bone meal advances frozen modded crops. This is useful for modded plants with many growth stages, since you can freeze early and then bone meal up to the stage that matches your build.

Watch for Modded Soil Interactions

If a modded soil block has its own growth-boosting behavior, the ice may not fully suppress it. In that case, swap to plain farmland or the mod's basic soil before icing.
