Fixing Crops That Keep Growing Despite Ice

Confirm the Ice Is Directly Below

The most common cause is ice placed under the wrong block. The ice must be immediately beneath the farmland or soil the crop sits on — not under a neighboring tile, not one block deeper. Break the farmland and check.

Check for a Second Soil Layer

Some setups have farmland sitting on dirt or another block. If you placed ice under the dirt instead of directly under the farmland, the crop still grows. Move the ice up one layer.

Rule Out Custom Growth Handlers

A few modded crops do not use the vanilla growth check and will ignore ice entirely. If a specific crop keeps maturing no matter what, it is likely one of these. There is no workaround within this mod for those plants.

Verify the Crop Is Not Already Mature

A fully grown crop will not change appearance even when frozen, which can look like the mod is not working. If the crop is at its final stage, the ice is doing nothing visible because there is nothing left to stop.

Replant and Retest

If you are unsure, break the crop, replant on iced farmland, and watch a full growth cycle. If it advances, the block below is wrong or the crop is unsupported.
