How to Separate a Chest Boat into a Chest
Chest boats have the same problem as chest minecarts: once combined, vanilla will not let you take them apart. This mod adds the reverse recipe so you can salvage the chest.
Steps
1. Place the chest boat into a crafting grid.
2. The recipe output is a single chest.
3. Take the chest. The boat is consumed in the process.
What You Keep and What You Lose
- You keep the chest.
- You lose the boat. There is no way to get the boat back through this recipe.
Why You Would Use It
- You built a chest boat for a river trip and no longer need the boat.
- You crafted too many chest boats and want the chests for base storage.
- You are cleaning up after exploring and want to reduce clutter in your inventory.
Tips
- Because the boat is lost, only break down chest boats you are sure you will not sail again.
- If you might still need a boat, craft a plain boat instead of sacrificing a chest boat.
- The chest you recover is a normal chest and can be placed or used in any vanilla recipe.
This mirrors the minecart behavior: block comes back, vehicle does not. Treat it as a salvage recipe, not a reversible crafting step.
