How to Get Your Hopper Back from a Hopper Minecart

If you crafted a stack of hopper minecarts by mistake, you do not have to throw them away. This mod lets you pull the hopper back out, at the cost of the minecart itself.

Steps

1. Place the hopper minecart you want to break down into a crafting grid. A single slot is enough.

2. The recipe output will be a plain hopper.

3. Take the hopper out. The minecart is consumed and will not be returned.

What to Expect

• You get the hopper back, not the minecart. Plan your iron and wood usage around that trade-off.
• The same one-way logic applies to chest minecarts, TNT minecarts and furnace minecarts, so you can recover the chest, TNT or furnace respectively.
• This is a crafting-grid recipe, so it works in your inventory grid, a crafting table, or any modded crafting interface that accepts vanilla recipes.

Practical Uses

• Reclaim hoppers from bulk-crafted minecart storage systems you no longer need.
• Recover chests from chest minecarts after a rail line is decommissioned.
• Recover furnaces from furnace minecarts when you switch to a different smelting setup.

Keep a few spare minecarts on hand if you think you might want to rebuild the minecart later, since the cart is the part you lose.
