Setting Up the Hypixel Mod API for a SkyBlock Modpack

Before you build the pack

Decide which loader and Minecraft version your pack targets, because the API must match both. Mixing loaders in one instance will not work — pick one and stay consistent for every mod in the pack.

Assembling the pack

1. Start with the Hypixel Mod API jar for your chosen loader and game version.

2. Add your SkyBlock/QoL mods one group at a time rather than all at once, so you can spot conflicts early.

3. After each group, launch the game and load into Hypixel once to confirm nothing errors out.

4. Watch for two mods that both try to provide the same feature — these often conflict even when both individually work with the API.

5. Once stable, note which mods are server-aware versus purely client-side; the server-aware ones are the ones that depend on the API.

Keeping it stable

  • Update the API and its dependents together, not separately.
  • If a pack update breaks things, roll back the API and the mod that changed most recently.
  • Test on a single-player world first for pure client mods, then on Hypixel for anything server-aware.
  • Avoid stacking multiple performance mods that touch the same systems; the API layer is not usually the culprit, but the interaction can be.
