Hypixel Mod API Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does the Hypixel Mod API actually do?
It's a dependency library that lets other client-side mods talk to the Hypixel server through an official channel instead of guessing from chat or packets. On its own it adds no visible features — you install it so the mods that need it can function.
Do I need to configure anything after installing it?
Usually no. The mod works passively in the background, and the mods that depend on it will call it automatically once it's present.
How do I know if a mod actually requires the Hypixel Mod API?
Check the mod's dependencies list on its project page — if the Hypixel Mod API is listed as required, you need it. If a mod crashes on launch with a missing dependency error naming this mod, that's your confirmation.
The mod is installed but another mod still says it's missing — why?
This usually means a version or loader mismatch: the dependent mod was built for a different Minecraft version or mod loader than the one you installed. Make sure both the API and the dependent mod target the same game version and loader.
Does the Hypixel Mod API work on any server, or only Hypixel?
It's designed specifically for the Hypixel server, so its features only activate there. On other servers it stays idle and the mods depending on it may lose their Hypixel-specific functionality.
Will this mod get me banned on Hypixel?
It's an official API provided for client mods, so using it as intended is allowed. Problems come from the mods built on top of it — if a dependent mod does something against the server rules, that's on the mod, not the API itself.
Can I use it on Fabric and Forge at the same time?
No — you install the build that matches your mod loader, and each loader has its own version. Mixing a Fabric build into a Forge instance (or vice versa) will cause it not to load.
Does it hurt my FPS or performance?
The API itself is lightweight and mostly handles data passing between mods and the server. If you notice lag, it's more likely coming from the mods that depend on it rather than the API.
Features in my SkyBlock mod stopped working — is the API the problem?
First check whether Hypixel changed something server-side, since API behavior can shift after server updates. Also confirm the API and the dependent mod are both up to date and built for your current game version.
Do I need this mod if I only play vanilla Hypixel without other mods?
No. The API does nothing on its own, so if you aren't running mods that depend on it, you can leave it out entirely.
