Seeing Your Hunger Bar While Riding a Horse

In vanilla Minecraft your hunger bar vanishes the moment you mount a horse, which makes long rides risky because you cannot tell when you are about to starve. Horsing Around fixes this by keeping the hunger bar visible while mounted.

What Changes When You Mount

1. Tame and saddle a horse as usual.

2. Right-click to mount it.

3. Instead of the hunger bar disappearing, it stays on your HUD alongside your health and the horse's jump/health indicators.

Why This Matters on Long Rides

Sprint-riding across biomes drains hunger through the normal food system, and without a visible bar you can drop to zero without noticing. With the bar shown you can:

  • Time when to eat before hunger hits the danger zone.
  • Avoid the weakness that comes with an empty hunger bar mid-journey.
  • Plan stops at villages or farms more accurately.

No configuration is required — the hunger bar simply remains visible whenever you are mounted. If you use a HUD mod that also draws hunger, you may see overlap; adjust your HUD layout so the two do not stack on top of each other. This feature works automatically for any rideable mount you sit on, not just horses.
