Managing Multiple Linked Animals Without Losing Them

Once you start feeding Golden Apples to your pets, it is easy to lose track of which animals are linked and where they will teleport from. This guide covers good habits for keeping a linked menagerie organized.

Keep a Mental (or Written) Roster

Every animal you feed a Golden Apple to becomes linked. Before feeding, decide whether you actually want that animal following you around the world. Linking a base pet you never intend to move can cause surprises when you press the teleport key far from home.

Teleporting Safely

1. Stand somewhere with solid ground and headroom before triggering the teleport.

2. Press the teleport keybind to summon your linked animals.

3. Check that all of them arrived — animals in unloaded chunks may need you to get closer first.

Practical Tips

• Do not link animals you plan to keep in a farm pen permanently; the teleport will yank them out.
• If an animal gets stuck or lost, walking near its last location and teleporting again usually resolves it.
• Use linking deliberately for travel companions: a wolf for combat, a cat for creepers, or a horse you want beside you after dismounting.
