Finding and Exploring Red Sand Biomes

Locating Red Sand Biomes

Red Sand biomes generate naturally near Badlands terrain. Start by exploring toward any Badlands you find—Red Sand Desert, Red Sand Beach, and Warm Ocean variants spawn in these regions as transitional areas. Use a map mod or explore systematically from known Badlands to find the boundaries where red sand begins.

What to Expect

Red Sand biomes feature distinctive red-tinted sand blocks, warm water variants with different colors, and unique beach coastlines. Underground beneath red sand areas, you'll find Red Sand Caves filled with red sandstone formations and warm aquifer ecosystems—these caves are worth exploring for unique underground structures.

Gathering Resources

Red Sand biomes are excellent for collecting red sand and red sandstone without traveling to the Badlands proper. The warm ocean variants support different aquatic life than standard oceans, making them interesting for observation. Bring tools suitable for sand and sandstone mining, and watch for the distinctive cave entrances that lead to Red Sand Caves below.
