Keep distant terrain updated when players build

Understand automatic updates

Horizon Reach Render Mod automatically detects when players place or break blocks in the world. The server updates the distant terrain cache and sends refreshed LOD data to all connected players, so large builds and landscape changes appear across the horizon without delay.

Enable background generation for new terrain

If players venture into unexplored chunks, the server may not have cached terrain data yet. Enable background generation by running /vss generation enable in the server console. This processes missing terrain data in the background so it's ready to send to future players.

Verify updates are working

After making major changes to your world, run /vss stats to confirm the mod is actively transmitting updated terrain. If updates seem slow, check your bandwidth limit with /vss bandwidth get—a restrictive limit may delay terrain refreshes.
