How to Harvest Pumpkins and Melons Faster

Why use a hoe

Pumpkins and melons are normally broken at the same speed as any other block, which feels slow when you have a large patch. The Hoe Tweaks Mod adds a configurable speed bonus specifically for breaking these crop blocks with a hoe, so a hoe becomes the fastest tool for clearing a pumpkin or melon farm.

How to do it

Equip any hoe and break a pumpkin or melon block as you normally would. The mod applies its crop block break speed modifier automatically, so you don't need to press any special key. The default modifier is a significant multiplier, meaning the block breaks much faster than with an axe or by hand. If you want it even faster or slower, the cropBlockBreakSpeedModifier option in the config controls this, with a range from no bonus up to a very large multiplier.

Tips

• Use your best hoe for the job; the speed bonus stacks with the hoe's own efficiency enchantment.
• Combine this with the wide tilling feature when replanting: harvest the pumpkins or melons quickly, then till the surrounding soil in a large area.
• If you find the speed too fast or too slow, adjust the config value rather than switching tools.
