Hoe Tweaks Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I till a large area with a hoe?
Crouch while right-clicking the ground with your hoe to till an area around the targeted block, with the size depending on the hoe tier. A diamond hoe tills a much larger area than a stone hoe. Each extra block tilled damages the hoe, though Unbreaking reduces this.
How do I un-till farmland back into dirt?
Right-click a tilled block with your hoe to turn it back into dirt. By default this only works when your other hand is empty, so you can still place seeds with a hoe in your offhand.
Why isn't my hoe un-tilling anything?
Check that your other hand is empty, since the onlyUntillWithOtherHandEmpty config option is enabled by default. You can disable that option in the config if you want to un-till while holding something in your offhand.
How do I stop accidentally un-tilling my farmland?
Keep an item in your offhand while farming, or disable the un-till feature in the config. Since un-tilling requires an empty offhand by default, holding seeds or another item prevents accidental un-tilling.
Does the hoe take extra damage when tilling a large area?
Yes, the hoe is damaged for each extra block tilled beyond the first. The Unbreaking enchantment is taken into account, so higher Unbreaking levels reduce how often the hoe takes damage.
How do I harvest pumpkins and melons faster?
Just break them with a hoe as you normally would, and the cropBlockBreakSpeedModifier config option speeds up the process. You can raise or lower that modifier in the config to change how fast pumpkins and melons break.
How do I change the tilling range of my hoe?
The range is tied to the hoe tier, so better hoes till larger areas. You can adjust related behavior in the mod's config file, but the tier-based range itself is set by the mod.
Do I have to crouch to till a large area?
Yes, by default you must crouch while right-clicking to activate the increased till range. Without crouching, the hoe behaves like a normal hoe and tills only a single block.
Can I use the hoe to place seeds while tilling?
Yes, you can hold seeds in your offhand and the hoe in your main hand. The un-till function is disabled while your offhand is occupied, so you won't accidentally un-till blocks while planting.
Does this mod work with other farming or tool mods?
It generally works alongside other mods since it only tweaks hoe behavior, but conflicts can happen if another mod also changes hoe tilling or un-tilling. If something behaves oddly, check the config and test with other hoe-related mods disabled.
