High Resolution Paintings Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know which painting size will fit my wall?
Count the blocks on your wall in both directions, then match them to the available sizes: 1×1, 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 for square walls, 1×2 and 3×4 for vertical spaces, or 2×1, 4×2, and 4×3 for horizontal walls. Place a painting frame and it will automatically snap to the correct size if one exists for those dimensions.
What happens if a high-resolution painting isn't finished yet?
The mod automatically uses a 64x Faithful style painting as a temporary replacement, so you'll still see sharp, detailed art instead of the vanilla blurry pixels. Once the high-resolution version is ready, it will replace the fallback when you update the pack.
Can I use this pack with other resource packs?
Yes, but load order matters—place this pack higher in your resource pack list than other packs if you want its paintings to take priority. If another pack also modifies paintings, whichever is loaded last will be the one you see.
Do the paintings look pixelated up close?
No, the high-resolution artwork is designed to stay crisp and clear even when you're standing right next to it, unlike vanilla paintings which blur when viewed closely.
Will this mod affect my game performance?
The pack uses higher resolution textures, so it may have a minor impact on performance depending on your graphics settings and hardware, but most players won't notice a significant difference since paintings are typically a small part of the rendered scene.
How do I create a gallery wall with different painting sizes?
Plan your layout on paper first, mixing square, vertical, and horizontal paintings to fill your wall space without gaps. Start placing paintings from one corner and work outward, using the guides in the mod documentation to see which sizes fit together well.
What's the best way to decorate a long hallway?
Use the wide landscape paintings (2×1, 4×2, or 4×3) spaced evenly along the hallway walls, or alternate between different sizes for visual interest. The 4×3 paintings work especially well for covering large stretches of wall.
Can I see what each painting looks like before placing it?
The mod replaces paintings when you place them, so you'll see the high-resolution art once it's on your wall. Check the screenshots on the wiki or in-game to preview the available artwork styles.
Do I need to do anything special to install this, or just drop it in my resource packs folder?
Just place the pack file in your resource packs folder and enable it in your resource pack menu—no additional setup or configuration is needed.
Will the paintings update automatically if new high-resolution art is added?
When you update the pack to a newer version, any new or improved high-resolution paintings will appear the next time you load your world or re-place existing paintings.
