Hidden Recipe Book Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the recipe book again if the mod hid it?
Press the mod's toggle hotkey (Tab by default) while a crafting screen is open to show or hide the recipe book. The setting applies instantly, so you don't need to reopen the interface.
Why does pressing Tab do nothing in my inventory?
The toggle only works while a crafting GUI is open, such as your inventory or a crafting table. If you're in the world with no screen open, Tab behaves normally and won't affect the recipe book.
Will the Tab hotkey mess with my player list?
No. The mod is designed so its toggle doesn't interfere with the player list even though they share the same key. The recipe book toggle only triggers inside crafting interfaces.
How do I make the recipe book hidden every time I launch the game?
Enable the shouldHideRecipeBook option in the mod's config so the book starts hidden on first launch. Once set, you won't have to hide it manually each session.
How do I turn the toggle hotkey off so Tab can't show the book?
Disable the allowRecipeBookToggleHotkey option in the config. With it off, the hotkey no longer shows or hides the recipe book, and the hidden state stays locked in.
Does this mod also hide the recipe book in the furnace?
Yes, the mod hides the recipe book in the furnace interface as well as the player inventory and crafting table. You won't see the book icon in any of those screens.
Where do I change the mod's options?
Open the mod's config file and edit the available options, then reload or restart as needed for them to apply. The main toggles are shouldHideRecipeBook and allowRecipeBookToggleHotkey.
Can I still craft normally with the recipe book hidden?
Yes. Hiding the recipe book only removes the visual interface and its auto-fill convenience; you can still place ingredients manually in the crafting grid as usual.
Will this mod conflict with other recipe or inventory mods?
It only affects the vanilla recipe book UI, so conflicts are rare, but mods that add their own recipe book buttons or replace the crafting screen may behave differently. If something looks off, check your config and test with other recipe mods disabled.
Does hiding the recipe book hurt performance?
No, the mod is lightweight and mainly removes UI elements rather than adding heavy processing. Any performance impact is negligible compared to the base game.
