How to Tell When Kelp and Other Special Crops Are Ready

Kelp uses a different marker

Most crops in this pack show a bouncing exclamation mark when mature. Kelp is the exception: it shows a flower above the plant instead. If you are farming kelp and waiting for an exclamation mark, you will never see one — watch for the flower.

Checking kelp and similar plants

1. Look at the top of the kelp stalk. When the flower marker appears, the plant has reached the point where harvesting gives you the full yield.

2. Harvest the kelp as usual; the marker disappears once the plant is broken and returns when the regrown plant matures.

3. Because kelp grows vertically, the marker sits at the top of the column, so scan upward rather than at ground level.

General rule for any crop

If you are unsure whether a specific plant uses the exclamation mark or a unique texture, plant one in a clear spot and watch it through its full growth cycle. The moment the marker appears is the moment it is ready. This lets you confirm the behaviour for any crop in your modpack without guessing, and you can then apply the same visual cue across your whole farm.
