Held Item Info Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the held item info overlay?
The overlay is active by default once the mod is loaded, so simply hold any enchanted tool, weapon, or armor piece and the info appears near the top of your HUD. If nothing shows, check that the item actually has enchantments or stored contents, since plain items display nothing.
Why isn't the enchantment info showing when I hold my sword?
The overlay only appears for items that have something worth displaying, like enchantments, stored contents, or special data. An unenchanted plain sword or a stack of dirt won't trigger it, so make sure the item in your main hand actually carries that information.
Does the overlay work for items in my offhand?
The mod reads the item you are currently holding, so switching the item to your main hand is the reliable way to see its info. If you want offhand details, swap it into your main hand briefly.
How do I see what's inside a Shulker Box without placing it?
Just hold the Shulker Box in your hand and the overlay lists its contents automatically. This works the same way for Bundles and Bee Nests, where the number of bees inside is shown.
Can I check a Bundle's contents while it's in my hand?
Yes, holding a Bundle displays the items stored inside it through the overlay. You don't need to open your inventory or right-click to see what's packed.
How do I see firework flight duration and shape before launching?
Hold the Firework Rocket and the overlay shows its flight duration, shape, and colors. This lets you confirm what the rocket will do before you use it.
Does the mod show crossbow enchantments and loaded ammo?
Yes, holding a Crossbow displays its enchantment info along with relevant details like whether it's loaded. This helps you confirm your crossbow is ready before a fight.
Can I read a Written Book's contents from the overlay?
The overlay shows info about the Written Book while you hold it, letting you identify it without opening the book GUI. For the full page text you still need to open the book itself.
Will this mod conflict with other HUD or inventory mods?
It generally coexists with most HUD and inventory mods since it only adds a small info panel, but overlapping HUD elements can occur if another mod draws in the same screen area. If you see overlap, adjust the other mod's HUD position rather than disabling this one.
Does the overlay hurt performance or cause lag?
The overlay only reads data from the item you're holding, so its performance impact is minimal even in busy situations. If you notice stutter, it's more likely from other mods or shaders than from this info display.
