Hearty Meals Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know how much health food will restore?
Hover over any food item in your inventory to see a tooltip displaying the exact amount of health it will restore. When you eat the food, a colored overlay appears on your health bar showing the incoming healing amount.
Can I eat while I'm already healing?
No, you can only eat when you're not currently healing from a previous food item. You must wait for the current healing to finish before consuming another food.
What's the Cozy effect from campfires?
When you stand near an active campfire, you gain the Cozy effect, which slowly heals you over time without needing to eat. This is useful for passive recovery when you're resting or waiting.
Why is my hunger bar gone?
Hearty Meals removes the hunger bar entirely since food now heals health directly instead of restoring hunger. Your armor bar has moved to where the hunger bar used to be.
How do I use potions more efficiently?
Potions can now be stacked in Bundles, allowing you to carry more of them at once. Fluid items like potions and stews are also consumed twice as fast, so you can use them more quickly in combat or emergencies.
Does honey work differently in this mod?
Yes, honey is consumed twice as fast as normal and provides greater saturation, making it a more efficient healing item than in vanilla Minecraft.
What happens if I eat food with low health values?
Food with lower original hunger values will restore proportionally less health. The tooltip always shows the exact amount, so you can choose high-value foods for efficient healing.
Can I stack multiple Cozy effects from multiple campfires?
The mod applies the Cozy effect to players near campfires, but the exact stacking behavior depends on how many campfires you're near—check the overlay and your healing rate to see the effect in action.
Do I need to manage saturation anymore?
Saturation is no longer relevant since the hunger system is removed; food now directly heals your health bar instead. Honey still provides 'greater saturation' as a mechanic, but this affects healing rather than hunger.
What food should I prioritize for healing?
Prioritize foods with high original hunger values, as they restore more health in this mod. Use the tooltips to compare foods and carry a mix of high-value foods and fluid items like honey for different situations.
