Hearthbound Blueprints FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make my first blueprint?
Craft a blank Blueprint by placing blue dye or lapis lazuli in the center of a crafting table and surrounding it with eight sheets of paper. Then place the blank Blueprint in a stonecutter to choose from the available house designs.
Can I use different types of wood or stone for the same blueprint?
Yes, the mod's material substitution system lets you place any block from the same family into the construction slots—so you can build a house with oak wood instead of spruce, or use different stone types interchangeably.
What happens if I break the blueprint station before finishing construction?
Your deposited materials are stored safely inside the Blueprint, so you can break the station and place it elsewhere to continue building without losing any resources.
Do the finished houses come with furniture already inside?
Yes, completed buildings automatically spawn with tables, workbenches, and decorative blocks included at no extra material cost.
How do I connect underground rooms together?
The subterranean modules are designed with valid doorways and multi-floor stair bridges that let you link them together into a larger connected settlement.
What's the difference between surface houses and underground modules?
Surface Houses are standalone above-ground structures like cottages, taverns, and manors, while Subterranean Modules are connected underground rooms such as libraries, barracks, and smithies that stack vertically.
How do I know when I've placed enough materials in the blueprint station?
Each material slot has an indicator that turns green when you've inserted enough blocks of that type; once all indicators are green, you can click the Build button.
Can I see what the building will look like before I commit my materials?
Yes, when you place a Blueprint Station on the ground, it projects a wireframe preview of the entire structure so you can check placement and size before filling the material slots.
What custom blocks does this mod add?
The mod adds openable shutters, hearths, shelves, counters, roof shingles, and other decorative building blocks to give finished homes a polished appearance.
How many house designs are included in the mod?
There are 26 distinct designs total: 14 above-ground houses across categories like cottages, bakeries, blacksmith shops, and farmhouses, plus 12 subterranean room modules.
