How to Use the HUD to Compare Weapons and Armor

Setting Up a Fair Test

Because the mod shows both health numbers and armor values, it doubles as a testing tool. Find a mob you can safely hit repeatedly, note its starting health and armor on the HUD, then land a single hit and read how much the number dropped. That difference is your effective damage against that target.

Comparing Against Armored Targets

Armor changes the result, so run the same test on a mob with armor and one without. If your damage drops sharply against the armored mob, your weapon is being reduced heavily and a different weapon or an enchantment that bypasses armor will serve you better. Repeat with each candidate weapon, always starting from the same mob type at full health so the comparison is valid.

Testing Your Own Defense

Equip different armor sets and let a weak mob hit you while watching your own health bar. The bar shows how much each hit removes, so you can see the practical difference between sets rather than guessing from armor points alone. Keep the test mob weak and the fight short so you do not die mid-experiment. Record the per-hit damage for each set, then pick the set that reduces it most for the weight and enchantments you can afford.
