Using Riptide Tridents and Fire Protection Above the Cloud Layer

What Changes Above the Clouds

Above the configured cloud height, the mod treats the weather as clear even while it is raining below. Any mechanic that checks for rain stops working up there. That includes riptide tridents, being extinguished by rain while on fire, and the bonus growth ticks crops get from rain.

Riptide Tridents

A riptide trident needs rain or a water source to launch you. Above the cloud level, rain no longer counts, so you cannot riptide off the open sky. To keep using riptide up high, drop a water source block and riptide out of that, or descend below the cloud height where the rain still registers. Plan your elytra-and-trident routes around this: launch low, then climb.

Fire and Crops

If you catch fire above the clouds, rain will not put you out, so carry water buckets or fire resistance. For farms, rain-fed bonus growth will not apply above the cloud line, meaning you should irrigate with water and rely on normal growth ticks. Build crop farms below the cloud height if you want the rain bonus, or accept slower growth in sky bases.
