Head In The Clouds Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I set the cloud height for the mod?
Open the mod's config file and enter the Y level your world uses for clouds. Servers can't detect this automatically, so you must set it manually or the mod won't know where 'above the clouds' begins.
Why isn't the weather clearing up when I fly above the clouds?
The cloud height in your config probably doesn't match your world's actual cloud level. Check the config value and adjust it to the correct Y level for your dimension.
Does this mod work on servers?
Yes, but the server has no way to know where clouds are, so the cloud height must be configured on the server side. If it isn't set, the altitude weather effect won't trigger for anyone.
Why did my riptide trident stop working?
Riptide requires rain or thunderstorm weather, and above the cloud level the mod simulates clear weather. Move below the cloud layer during rain, or use the trident at a lower altitude.
Why am I still on fire above the clouds when it's raining below?
Rain extinguish only works when actual rain is falling on you, and above the cloud layer the mod treats weather as clear. Get below the cloud level or use water, a cauldron, or another extinguish method.
Do crops grow faster above the clouds?
No, the opposite. The extra crop growth tick from rain only applies below the cloud layer, so farming above the clouds loses that bonus.
Can I make a sky base with permanent clear weather?
Yes, build above the configured cloud height and the mod will keep the area sunny regardless of the weather below. Just remember that rain-dependent mechanics like riptide and fire extinguish won't work up there.
Does the mod change weather in the Nether or End?
Those dimensions don't have normal rain to begin with, so the altitude weather effect mainly matters in the Overworld. Set the cloud height per dimension in the config if the mod supports it.
Will this mod conflict with other weather or altitude mods?
It can conflict with mods that also override weather behavior or cloud rendering, since both may try to control the same thing. Test alongside your other weather mods and adjust configs if effects overlap.
Does the mod hurt performance?
It's a lightweight weather logic tweak rather than a rendering overhaul, so performance impact is minimal. Any lag you see is more likely from other mods or the sky base itself.
