Do I need to do anything special after installing the pack or does it just work?
The pack works automatically once installed—just load a world and your shields will display high-resolution patterns. No configuration or commands needed; any shield with a banner design will show the improved textures right away.
Will my old shields with patterns look better if I already have them?
Yes, existing shields in your inventory or world will immediately display the sharper patterns. You don't need to recraft them.
Can I use this pack with other resource packs at the same time?
Yes, but load HD Shield Resource Pack lower in your pack list (or higher in priority, depending on your launcher) so its textures override other packs. If another pack also modifies shields, there may be conflicts.
What banner patterns work with shields and will look sharper?
Any banner pattern you can craft at a loom or apply to a banner will look sharper on a shield—this includes solid colors, stripes, gradients, and all decorative patterns like creepers, flowers, and geometric designs.
Does this pack change how shields work in combat or just how they look?
This pack is purely visual; it only improves the appearance of shield patterns and does not affect shield durability, blocking mechanics, or any gameplay stats.
Why do my shield patterns still look blurry even with the pack installed?
Check that the pack is actually enabled in your resource packs menu and positioned above conflicting packs. If using a launcher, verify the pack loaded correctly by checking your resource pack list in-game.
Does this work on servers or only in single-player?
Resource packs are client-side, so the pack works on any server—other players won't see your improved textures unless they also install it, but you will always see them on your end.
Will this pack slow down my game or hurt performance?
No, this pack uses the same file structure as vanilla and only replaces existing textures, so it has no performance impact.
Can I combine multiple banner patterns on one shield like in vanilla?
Yes, you can layer banner patterns on a shield the same way you would without this pack—all layers will display in high resolution.
Does the pack work with custom banners I design myself or only vanilla patterns?
