Plan Base Layouts for Efficient Hauling
Design Considerations
Since carrying storage blocks applies Slowness and multiple blocks prevent movement entirely, design your base with hauling in mind. Cluster related storage near work areas to minimize transport needs. Consider permanent chest locations over frequent relocation.
Staging Areas
Create temporary staging zones where you can deposit hauled chests before moving them to final locations. This breaks up long journeys and lets you manage the Slowness effect strategically.
Minimize Hauling
Instead of moving many chests, build your base layout correctly the first time. Use barrels and chests in fixed locations for different purposes (mining storage, crafting supplies, finished goods). Only haul when absolutely necessary—like relocating an entire storage room.
Exploration Strategy
When exploring, haul a single barrel or chest to a forward base camp rather than carrying it across the entire map. This reduces time spent slowed and lets you make multiple trips efficiently.
