Haul Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I pick up a chest or barrel?
Stand next to the chest or barrel with both your main hand and off-hand empty, then sneak and right-click on it. The block will disappear and move into your inventory as an item.
What happens when I carry a chest in my inventory?
You'll receive the Slowness effect, making you move slower. This is intentional to add weight and strategy to transporting storage blocks.
Can I carry multiple chests at once?
You can carry more than one chest, but carrying two or more will completely prevent you from moving or jumping. You'll be stuck in place until you drop one.
Do the items inside the chest stay when I pick it up?
Yes, all contents are preserved. When you place the chest back down, everything inside will still be there.
Does Haul work with barrels and other storage blocks?
Haul works with both chests and barrels. Other storage blocks like shulker boxes or hoppers are not supported by this data pack.
What if I'm holding something in my hands—can I still pick up a chest?
No, both your main hand and off-hand must be completely empty to pick up a storage block. Drop or place down any items first.
Can I pick up a chest that's part of a double chest?
You can only pick up individual chests. If you have a double chest, you'll need to pick up each half separately.
Does the Slowness effect go away when I place the chest down?
Yes, the Slowness effect is only active while you're carrying a chest in your inventory. Once you place it, the effect disappears.
Will Haul cause lag or performance issues?
Haul is a lightweight data pack and should not cause noticeable performance problems on most systems. It uses simple mechanics without heavy processing.
Can I use Haul on a multiplayer server?
Yes, Haul works on multiplayer servers. The server administrator needs to install the data pack, and all players will be able to use it.
