Finding and Taming a Ghast

Locate a ghast in your world (typically found in the Nether or through other mod mechanics). Approach it carefully and tame it using the method appropriate for your mod setup. Once tamed, you'll have a rideable pet ghast.

Preparing Your Speed Items

Before your first ride, gather speed-boosting items:

• Sugar for a 2x speed boost
• Honey for a 2.5x speed boost
• Dragon's breath for a 3x speed boost

Keep at least one type in your inventory to feed your ghast during flight.

Your First Ride

1. Right-click your tamed ghast to mount it

2. Hold a speed item and use it while riding to activate the 20-second boost

3. Listen for the sound effect when the boost expires—this tells you when to feed again

4. Dismount by sneaking (default: Shift key)

Getting Comfortable

Start with short flights to learn the controls. Notice the extra block of reach distance when breaking or placing blocks. Enjoy the quieter ambient sounds compared to vanilla ghasts. Once comfortable, you can tackle longer journeys with chained speed boosts.
