Happy Ghast Improvements Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I tame a ghast to use this mod?
You need to find a ghast in the Nether and tame it using the standard method for your mod setup (this mod doesn't change taming, only improves tamed ghasts). Once tamed, you can ride it and start using the speed boost features.
What items can I feed my ghast for speed boosts?
You can feed your ghast sugar, honey, or dragon's breath. Each gives a different speed multiplier: sugar doubles speed, honey gives two and a half times speed, and dragon's breath triples it. All boosts last 20 seconds.
How do I know when my speed boost runs out?
The mod plays a sound effect when the 20-second boost expires, so you'll hear an audio cue telling you it's time to feed your ghast again if you want to maintain the speed.
Can I feed my ghast while riding it or do I have to get off?
You can feed it both ways: right-click the ghast while it's on the ground, or use the speed boost item in your hand while you're already riding it.
Does this mod make ghasts completely silent?
No, but it drastically reduces noise. Ambient sounds play every 36 seconds instead of every 6 seconds, and when you're riding, sounds only play every 60 seconds, making flight much more peaceful.
What's the extra reach distance used for?
The mod gives you one additional block of reach while riding your ghast, making it easier to break or place blocks below you without having to dismount.
Do I need to be in the Nether to use the speed boosts?
No, the speed boost mechanics work anywhere you ride your ghast, whether in the Nether, Overworld, or other dimensions.
Can I stack multiple speed boosts or feed my ghast before the timer ends?
The mod resets the 20-second timer each time you feed your ghast, so feeding it again before the boost expires will refresh the duration rather than stacking effects.
Does this mod affect wild or unridden ghasts?
The noise reduction applies to all ghasts in your world, but the speed boost and reach features only work when you're actively riding a tamed ghast.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight and only modifies ghast behavior and sound frequencies, so it shouldn't cause noticeable performance problems on most systems.
