Understanding Your Extended Reach

When mounted on your ghast, you gain one extra block of reach distance. This is particularly useful for breaking or placing blocks below you while flying, which would normally be difficult or impossible.

Breaking Blocks Below You

1. Ride your ghast and position yourself above the blocks you want to break

2. Look downward at the target block

3. The extra reach allows you to break blocks from a greater distance than normal

4. This is especially helpful for mining ore veins or harvesting crops from above

Placing Blocks Below You

1. Hold your building block in your hand

2. While mounted, look down at the position where you want to place the block

3. Right-click to place it

4. The extended reach makes it easier to build structures or create platforms beneath you without dismounting

Practical Applications

Use this feature for strip mining from above, creating floating platforms, or harvesting large areas quickly. The reach bonus eliminates the need to constantly dismount and remount your ghast.
