Hand Over Your Items Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I give an item to another player?
Hold the itemstack you want to give in your main hand, then sneak and right-click the other player. The whole stack transfers to them at once, so you don't need to drop it on the ground.
Why won't the handover trigger when I right-click someone?
The most common cause is not sneaking, since mustCrouchToGiveItem is enabled by default. Make sure you're holding the item in your main hand and that you're aiming directly at the other player, not a block or mob in front of them.
Does the item go to the other player or drop on the ground?
It goes straight into the recipient's inventory if they have space. If their inventory is full, the item drops at their feet rather than yours.
How do I stop accidentally handing my items to people?
Turn off mustCrouchToGiveItem in the config so sneaking is required before a handover can happen. That way a plain right-click on another player won't transfer anything.
Can I give items to a player whose inventory is full?
Yes, the handover still goes through, but the item ends up on the ground at the recipient's feet instead of in their inventory. They'll need to pick it up manually.
How do I turn off the chat messages when giving or receiving items?
Use the sendItemGivenMessage and sendItemReceivedMessage settings in the config. Disabling either one stops that player from getting the confirmation message.
Can I hand over a whole stack at once, or just one item?
The mod hands over the entire itemstack in your main hand, not a single item. If you only want to give part of a stack, split it in your inventory first and hold the smaller stack.
Does this work on servers, or only singleplayer?
It works on multiplayer servers as long as the mod is installed on both the client and the server. If only one side has it, the handover won't function.
Can I give items to players in other dimensions or far away?
No, you need to be close enough to right-click the other player directly. The handover only works when you're within normal interaction range.
Does handing over items cause lag or performance issues?
No, the mod only does a simple inventory transfer when you sneak and right-click a player, so it has no noticeable performance impact. It doesn't run any continuous background checks.
