GUI Scaler Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the mod after installing it?
The mod activates automatically when you launch Minecraft. Open any menu (like the pause screen or inventory) and you should see your GUI scale to fit your window. If you want to adjust settings, look for GUI Scaler in your mods list via ModMenu.
What's the difference between AUTO and CUSTOM mode?
AUTO mode automatically picks the best scale based on your screen resolution and window size with no setup needed. CUSTOM mode lets you create your own rules—for example, you can say "when my window is this wide, use this scale" so you have full control.
Why does my GUI scale change when I toggle fullscreen?
The mod detects your window size change and automatically rescales to fit. If you want to prevent this, check the mod's settings for an option to lock the scale or disable automatic updates when switching fullscreen modes.
Can I use this mod on multiple monitors with different resolutions?
Yes. The mod checks your current monitor's resolution each time you move your window or change displays. You can also create CUSTOM rules for each monitor setup so the scale adjusts correctly when you switch between them.
Does this mod work with other GUI mods?
GUI Scaler works with ModMenu and most standard menu mods. If you're using mods that heavily customize menus, test them together first—some custom GUIs may not scale as expected.
How do I create a CUSTOM scaling rule?
Open the mod's config or settings screen and select CUSTOM mode. You'll define rules by setting a window width and the scale you want for that width. The mod will interpolate between your rules for window sizes in between.
My text is still too small even with the mod. What do I do?
Try switching to CUSTOM mode and manually increase the scale value for your window size. You can also check if your game's language or font settings are affecting readability separately from GUI scale.
Does GUI Scaler affect my game's performance?
No, the mod only changes menu sizes and runs very lightweight checks when your window resizes. It should have no impact on your FPS or game performance.
What happens if I disable the mod mid-game?
Your GUI scale will stay at whatever size it was when you disabled the mod. When you re-enable it, the mod will recalculate and adjust to fit your current window.
Can I lock the GUI scale so it doesn't change automatically?
Yes, most versions of this mod include a lock or freeze option in the settings that prevents automatic rescaling. Enable it if you want to keep your scale fixed even when resizing your window or toggling fullscreen.
