Identify Endless Effects from Commands

Recognize Infinite Duration Effects

When you receive a potion effect through a game command with infinite duration (like /effect give @s strength 999999999), the GUI Effect Timer Mod displays a special indicator instead of a countdown. This visual cue tells you the effect will never wear off naturally.

Where to Look

Open your active effects screen or check your HUD potion icons. Any effect with infinite duration will show a distinct icon or marker—typically different from the standard timer display.

What This Means

An endless effect remains active until:

  • You drink a milk bucket to clear all effects
  • A command removes it specifically
  • You die and don't have keepInventory enabled

Unlike timed effects, you don't need to reapply endless buffs. They're permanent for the current session, making them useful for creative mode, testing, or adventure maps.

No Timer Needed

Since there's no countdown, the mod won't clutter your screen with numbers. The special icon simply confirms the effect is infinite.
