GUI Effect Timer Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on the timer on my potion effects?
The mod activates automatically once installed—timers appear at the bottom of your active effect icons in the top-left corner of your screen by default. If you don't see them, check your configuration file to make sure the mod is enabled.
Can I move where the timer appears on screen?
The timer displays directly on your potion effect badges in their default location. You cannot reposition the timer itself, but you may be able to move your entire HUD depending on your mod setup and other mods you're using.
How do I change the color of the timer text?
Open your mod configuration file and adjust the red, green, and blue values (each ranging from 0 to 255) to create your desired color. Save the file and restart your game or reload your config to see the changes.
What do the letters s, m, h, and d mean on the timer?
These are abbreviations: 's' means seconds, 'm' means minutes, 'h' means hours, and 'd' means days. The mod uses these short labels to keep your screen uncluttered while showing exactly how much time your effects have left.
Why does my fire resistance timer matter when I'm in lava?
Fire resistance prevents lava damage, but only while the effect is active. The countdown timer lets you see the exact moment it will expire so you can exit the lava before you take damage.
What's the special icon that appears on some effects?
When you receive an endless potion effect from a command (like `/effect give`), the mod displays a special icon to indicate that effect has no expiration time and will not wear off naturally.
Does the timer update fast enough to see every second change?
Yes, the timer updates very frequently so you see the exact moment each second passes and when effects expire. This real-time precision is the core feature of the mod.
Can I have different timer colors for different effects?
The mod applies one color setting to all timers on your screen. You cannot assign individual colors to specific potion effects.
Does this mod affect my game performance?
The mod is lightweight and only updates the timer display on active effects, so it should have minimal impact on performance even with many effects active at once.
What happens if I have more potion effects than fit on screen?
Your potion effect icons will scroll or stack according to your game's default behavior, and each visible effect will display its own countdown timer. The mod works with however many effects are shown at once.
