Why Isn't My Grindstone Sharpening Working? Troubleshooting the Sneak + Right-Click

Check the interaction first

The most common cause is simply not sneaking. A plain right-click on a grindstone opens the vanilla GUI. You must hold Shift (or your sneak key) while right-clicking. If you're on a laptop or remapped keys, confirm your sneak bind isn't conflicting.

Check what's in your hand

• The mod is designed for weapons and tools. If you're holding a block, food, or an empty hand, nothing will happen.
• Make sure the item isn't already at full sharpened uses from a previous sharpen — re-sharpening just resets the counter, so it may look like "nothing happened" if the name display is disabled.

Check the server/config side

• On multiplayer, the server config controls whether sharpening is enabled and how many uses you get. If the server owner disabled it or set uses very low, you'll see little or no effect.
• Chat notifications are a configurable feature. If they're off, you'll only notice the bonus through the item name or through extra damage numbers.
• If the item name never updates, that's also a config toggle — the mechanic can still be working even when the name looks unchanged.

Quick test

Sharpen a sword, hit a mob once, and watch for the alert thresholds as uses drop. If damage clearly increases and the counter decreases, everything is functioning.
