Making Sharpened Weapons Last: Managing Uses and Re-Sharpening Efficiently
Understand the counter
Every sharpened hit consumes one use. The default maximum is small enough that you'll burn through it in a single dungeon run, so treat sharpening as a per-fight buff, not a permanent upgrade. The item name (when enabled) shows exactly how many empowered hits remain.
Plan your sharpens
- Sharpen just before engaging a boss, raid, or mob farm session so no uses are wasted on trivial hits.
- Watch for the 75%, 50%, 25%, and 10% alerts in chat. The 10% warning is your cue to step back and re-sharpen before the buff runs out mid-fight.
- Keep a spare grindstone near your base's exit or your mob farm so re-sharpening is one sneak-click away.
Stacking with other buffs
The bonus damage from sharpening is added on top of your normal weapon damage, so it pairs well with enchantments, potions, and critical hits. It does not replace enchantments — the grindstone's vanilla disenchant function still works with a normal right-click.
When to skip it
For one-shot trash mobs, sharpening is overkill. Save it for targets where the extra damage actually shortens the fight, like armored mobs or bosses with large health pools.
