How to Sharpen a Weapon on a Grindstone (and Actually Get the Damage Bonus)
The exact interaction
Hold the weapon or tool you want to empower in your main hand, then sneak (hold Shift) and right-click the grindstone. A normal right-click opens the grindstone's repair/disenchant GUI, so if you see that screen instead of a chat message, you forgot to sneak. When it works, you get a chat notification telling you the tool is now sharpened and how many empowered hits it has left.
What you should see afterward
- The item's name updates to show the remaining sharpened uses (this display is configurable, so it may be off on some servers).
- Each successful hit on a mob consumes one sharpened use and deals the extra bonus damage configured for the mod.
- You'll get alert messages at 75%, 50%, 25%, and 10% of remaining uses so you know when to re-sharpen.
Practical tips
- Sharpen right before a fight, not hours earlier — the counter only ticks down on hits, but you don't want to waste a fresh sharpen on a mob you one-shot anyway.
- If the chat is silent and the name doesn't change, the mod may be disabled server-side or the config may have notifications turned off.
- You can re-sharpen the same weapon at any time; it simply resets the counter to the configured maximum.
