Gray’s Villager Overhaul Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why do my villagers still look the same after installing the pack?
You need to enable Custom Entity Models and Random Entities in your resource pack settings. Go to Options > Resource Packs > Gray's Villager Overhaul, click the settings icon, and turn both options on.
How do I know what job a villager has with the new outfits?
Each profession now has a distinct outfit and color scheme—for example, librarians wear robes, farmers wear straw hats, and clerics wear purple. The outfit changes also reflect the biome the villager is in, so a farmer in a snowy village looks different from one in a plains village.
Do Illagers look different too?
Yes, Illagers have been redesigned to match the new villager style, including Evokers, Vindicators, and Pillagers. Ravagers also receive a fresh design that fits the updated aesthetic.
Will this pack work with other resource packs?
This pack should work alongside most other resource packs, but if you have multiple packs that modify villager or entity models, the one loaded last will take priority. Check your resource pack load order if you see conflicts.
Do Iron Golems look different in this pack?
Yes, Iron Golems have updated models that fit the new visual style while keeping their protective role clear. They'll look noticeably different from the default design.
What happens if I disable the pack—do my villagers go back to normal?
Yes, disabling or removing the pack will restore the default villager appearance. Your world data isn't affected, so you can toggle the pack on and off without losing anything.
Does this pack affect performance or cause lag?
The pack uses custom entity models which require a bit more rendering, but most modern systems handle it fine. If you experience lag, try disabling other resource packs or lowering your entity distance in video settings.
Can I use this on a multiplayer server?
Yes, this is a client-side resource pack, so you can use it on any server without needing the server to have it installed. Other players won't see the changes unless they also install the pack.
Why do some villagers look wrong or have missing textures?
Make sure both Custom Entity Models and Random Entities are enabled in the pack settings. If the problem persists, try reloading your resource packs by pressing F3 + T (or going to Options > Resource Packs and clicking Reload).
Does this pack change how villagers trade or behave?
No, this is purely a visual resource pack—it only changes how villagers, Illagers, Iron Golems, and Ravagers look. All trading, breeding, and behavior mechanics remain exactly the same.
