Understanding How Gravestone and Curios Slots Work Together
The Two Systems
Gravestone manages what happens to your items when you die — it collects them into a grave you can retrieve. Curios API manages a separate set of equipment slots for trinkets that are not part of your normal armor or hotbar. On their own, these two systems do not know about each other.
What the Compat Mod Bridges
This compat mod teaches Gravestone that Curios slots are a distinct category. Instead of sweeping Curios items into the general inventory pool, Gravestone recognizes them as equipped trinkets. That recognition is what lets them be restored to the correct slot after death rather than dumped into your backpack.
Practical Implications
- Equipped trinkets are treated as equipped. They are not just inventory items that happen to be in a special slot.
- Slot type is preserved. A ring returns to a ring slot, not a generic slot.
- Load order and presence matter. All three mods — Gravestone, Curios API, and this compat layer — must be installed together. Removing any one of them breaks the bridge.
When to Care
If you use Curios-based gear (trinkets from Curios addons), this compat mod is what keeps your death recovery sane. If you do not use Curios at all, the compat mod has nothing to do and you can ignore it.
Quick Sanity Check
Equip a Curios item, die, loot the grave, and confirm the item is back in its slot. That single test tells you the whole system is wired correctly.
